Thank you very much! I had a great aphasia day with about 15 members and staff with the Purdue Aphasia Support Group in Purdue University! I talked about my diary and my voice recordings and it sounded like many of the people in the audience wished that they had kept a diary too. We also talked about my company, Stroke Educator, Inc., and the national Aim High for Aphasia awareness campaign. There are only 8.8% of a national survey of the country who are “aphasia aware” and unfortunately, many of the health community and especially hospitals rarely provide any information on their website about aphasia.
I am coming up to my fifth anniversary with Stroke Educator, Inc. and the Aim High for Aphasia awareness campaign. Over the last 5 years of the campaign, I have written three books about aphasia, presented over 200+ times, to 4000 people, in 25 states, with Indiana being my 25th state last night!
My goal (in 2015) had been 50 states in 5 years! Starting in January 2020, the new goal will be, 50 states in another 5 years. The goal also includes getting 100 hospitals to talk about aphasia (from the perspective of a person with aphasia) to their staff and including the aphasia lexicon in their website.
