I presented “Stroke & Learning: The Science of Neuroplasticity” to over 75 science teachers at both my booth and presentation with many with an interest (and family and friends with stroke) in stroke, aphasia and plasticity.
I showed a time-lapsed footage of neurons connecting with other neurons with plasticity and they were (quite) amazed. It was the first time that I have spoken to educators about my stroke and aphasia and used neuroplasticity (and my recovery) as the common denominator between teaching and therapy as the bridge to Mind, Brain, & Education (MBE) Science.
It was a new day with Aphasia Awareness! All the participants at my booth and presentation all received a National Aphasia Association Aphasia ID.
