BRAIN INJURY TALK RADIO NETWORK (Interview with Tom Broussard, Stroke Educator and Aphasia Awareness Advocate on Aphasia Awareness Month with Kim Justus on Brain Injury Talk Radio Network, 10:00 PM to midnight, Wednesday, June 12, 2019).
I had a TWO HOUR interview last night with the host, Kim Justus and the Brain Injury Talk Radio Network! It was quite lucky that I was included during the National Aphasia Awareness Month.
The interview was streamed across 50 states and many countries around the world…so I hope they many heard more about aphasia awareness. I talked about how many people in the health community and especially hospitals, do not use the word “aphasia” as part of their day-to-day lexicon.
If you use the word “Aphasia” in the search box for most hospitals’ websites, the answer is often, “We are sorry! No results were found. Please try your search again.” THIS is what we have to do!
If all the websites of all the hospitals in the country were to include information about aphasia, the 8% of the current US populations who ARE aware of aphasia, the aphasia awareness needle would definitely move higher! Aim High for Aphasia is the name of the game! Check your local hospital’s website and tell me know what you found!
