JACKSONVILLE, FL (Mayo Clinic Stroke Seminar, 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, Wednesday, May 1, 2019.) I attended a wonderful event at Mayo Hospital (live presentations from mobile stroke ambulances in the parking lot, stroke survivors both live and video around the country, surgeons who performed many of the people in the audience as well as the presenters; one who is a professional stroke survivor dancer, on the stage) in Jacksonville.
One of my students from last week’s Brooks Rehab IHL class told me about the Mayo event. It was incredibly well done with the Stroke Director, David Miller, many staff, clinicians, surgeons and Frances Kinne, the sponsor of many Mayo events, and the auditorium named, Frances Bartlett Kinne Auditorium. I got there early and was lucky enough to meet Frances and we talked for quite a while. Frances greeted everyone coming in. What an amazing life! She will be 102 later this month!! Still quite an energized bunny as you can see from these photographs! Thank you Mayo for an amazing stroke and aphasia day on the first day of Stroke Month 2019!
