ORLANDO, FL (ASHA Annual Convention 2019, November 20 to November 23, 2019. I was part of a seminar on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, entitled “Clinicians, Researchers, and Consumers Collaborating: Project BRIDGE” presentation with Hinckley, A. Brice, L. Bislick, T. Broussard, M. Caputo, A. Engelhoven, J. Kurnal, K. Lenius, E. Madden, J.Morgan.
The seminar discussed the BRIDGE project addressing the practices that support the collaboration of people with aphasia, their families, clinicians, and researchers in the research process. Each presenter was part of their research team and shared their experiences with suggestions for continuing successful collaboration.
I provided a few slides about my experience as a person with aphasia as part of the collaborative team. Among other things, I “kept track” of the activities of the group and used, what I called, a “live diary” like a “fly on the wall.” I recording the time spent by each team member group (researchers, stroke survivors, family, clinicians and students) and some of the interactions in the team. It was a wonderful learning experience!
