Faye Stillman, MS, CCC-SLP/ATP, CE Manager and Assistive Technology Professional at Lingraphica, Princeton, NJ and Tom Broussard, Stroke Educator, Inc., provided an educational session entitled “Clinical Application of Assistive Technology for Experience-Dependent Neuroplasticity.”
We reviewed the research of activities that leverage the principle of neuroplasticity and demonstrate how the implementation of Assistive Technology (AT) can be utilized to maximize experience-dependent neuroplasticity. We also provided two different perspectives of the activities that induce experience-dependent neuroplasticity. Assistive Technology (AT) on the one hand, and a low-tech approach to plasticity including a diary, voice memos and pictures with different activities that both induced experience-dependent neuroplasticity and aphasia recovery.
