SPRINGFIELD, PA (Springfield Historical Society, Springfield, PA., Wednesday, October 9, 2019, 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Springfield Country Club, hosted by Rob Broussard, President, Stroke Survivor and brother!)  Rob calls us the “Stumbles and Mumbles Brothers” act!

I presented “The Two Sides of Stroke/Left or Right Side, Two brothers, different strokes” to about 30 members of the local historical society and the public (there was a good amount newspaper coverage).

My brother had his stroke (Right side) (mine is left side) this last January with weakness in his left leg, arm and hand. He has been doing well with therapy, practice, and return to limited work. I talked about aphasia and explained about neuroplasticity to the group.

Rob talked about “finger platters” that he used while in therapy and build his own “finger platter” to use every day. An SLP in the audience explained about apraxia as well. It was a great stroke and aphasia day!
