I presented “Aphasia, regaining your language after a stroke” with my host, Liz Madden, PhD, CCC-SLP, Assistant Professor, School of Communication Science & Disorders, & Faculty Affiliate, Institute for Successful Longevity, Florida State University and about 30 first-year SLP students. The presentation was filmed and will be provided after it is edited.
The students had plenty of questions about repetition, practice, various modalities, habit, plasticity, awareness, mistakes, inspiration, and motivation. Motivation is always a big question with difficult answers. There is no silver bullet and has a lot to do with one’s prior life, experience and habit before their stroke. It was great group of students and another great aphasia day! Thank you FSU!
